Meet Your College Counselor

College Era was founded by Jennifer Thorn, a school counselor who is passionate about leading high school students on the right path. Jennifer started her career in education as a teacher. She went on to work in marketing at several Fortune 500 companies before returning to her college counseling work.

Jennifer attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for her undergraduate studies in education, where she had a 4 year, full-tuition Board of Directors academic scholarship.  She earned her MBA from the Yale School of Management in New Haven, CT, and earned a Master’s level Certificate, with distinction, in College Counseling from UCLA. Jennifer is a member of the National Association of College Admissions and Counseling (NACAC) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).

In addition to working 1:1 with students, Jennifer is the Director of College Counseling for an independent boarding school where she has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of student interests and needs, including student-athletes, international students, and students pursuing the visual arts in college. Jennifer is available to work with students virtually as well as in-person in the Orlando, FL area.

“My philosophy is to focus on both fit for the student and cost from the very beginning.  Success to me is exciting opportunities for the student coupled with a reasonable plan to afford those exciting colleges.”
